Thank you

I want to thank you for all the support you've given me over the course of this campaign. I am grateful to everyone who worked so hard for change in California.

We came up short last night, but we have a lot to be proud of. We highlighted the importance of having an Attorney General to protect consumers, to innovate in reducing crime, and to keep Californians safe online and on our streets.

I'd like to congratulate District Attorney Kamala Harris on her victory and send my congratulations to all my opponents on a well-run race.

There is much to do for our Democratic ticket led by Jerry Brown, so I hope you'll join me in doing everything you can to help them this November.

Again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you,

Chris Kelly

Your vote today

After thousands of miles of traveling, hundreds of events, and many months of campaigning, it's finally here: Today is Election Day!

I can't thank you all enough for your encouragement and support along the way. It's been such a pleasure to meet so many Californians out on the campaign trail who care deeply about the future of our state.

I do too. I know we can fix the many problems facing our state and make California stronger than ever before. That's why I'm running for Attorney General -- and that's why I'm asking for your vote.

Our big emphasis today is making sure that everyone who supports me gets out to the polls today -- if they haven't already voted.

Have you voted yet?

If you haven't already voted, you can click here to look up your polling location on our website. Make sure you get there at some point before the polls close at 8 p.m. tonight.

Then, after you've voted, I hope you'll visit my Facebook page to let us know that you've cast your ballot -- and to remind your friends and family to get out and vote too.

I believe my deep experience in public policy, business, and law -- helping President Clinton put 100,000 cops on America's streets, working with Attorneys General around the country to keep children safe online, and developing policies at one of the world's leading technology companies to protect consumers -- makes me the most qualified candidate to be your next Attorney General.

As someone who's not tied to the failing political system in California, I'm also the strongest candidate to ensure that the Attorney General's office remains in Democratic hands in November.

And judging by how we've been surging to the lead in recent polls, a lot of Californians agree.

But none of those poll numbers matter right now. What's important today is that everyone votes.

Thanks so much for your incredible support. Jennifer, Aidan, and I couldn't do it without you.

Vote for my husband

When my husband Chris Kelly first told me he was thinking about running for California Attorney General, I was ecstatic.

Chris has devoted his career to keeping children safe and protecting consumers. I know how deeply devoted Chris is to ending the "politics as usual" games that have failed California time and again.

As he's campaigned, I've learned how well Chris understands California's law enforcement community, how many people trust him to keep them safe, and how much he cares about the future of our state. As his wife, mother to our son Aidan, and as a Californian, I know how important it is that we elect him.

Tomorrow is election day, and I want to ask you to vote for my husband, Chris Kelly, in the Democratic primary for Attorney General.

You can look up your polling location on the Kelly2010.com campaign website. Even if you think you know where to vote, your polling place may have changed since the last time you voted, so click here to look it up.

As a former Assistant Attorney General in another state, I saw lots of politicians who paid lip service to fighting crime but did little to actually achieve results. Chris' experience in the private and public sectors shows he is ready to lead our law enforcement community and meet his commitments to reduce crime and reform our broken government.

Thank you for supporting my husband and Aidan's dad, Chris Kelly. I know he'll make a fantastic Attorney General who will make all Californians proud.

SF Police Officers Say Kamala Harris Created a Revolving Door System of Justice and Failed as DA

Today the Chris Kelly for Attorney General campaign released a new ad with San Francisco police officers talking about Kamala Harris' failures as San Francisco District Attorney, saying she doesn't share law enforcement's values on fighting crime and that she has created a revolving door for criminals in the city.

Watch the video here:

Below please find a transcript of the video:

Steve Marquez - Police Officer (ret.) SFPD
"You've seen her TV ads but take it from law enforcement..
When a drug dealer says: 'Why bother arresting me, I'm not going to jail'
That means the D.A. like Kamala Harris has failed to do her job."

Jim Barron - Sergeant (ret.) SFPD
"Kamala Harris allowed San Francisco to become a revolving door for criminals."

Dave Fontana - Police Officer (ret.) SFPD
"Harris allowed repeat offenders, even illegal immigrants, to commit crimes then go right back out on the streets."

Steve Marquez - Police Officer (ret.) SFPD
"Take it from a cop who saw Kamala Harris up close.
She just doesn't share our values on fighting crime."

Law enforcement has good reason to be concerned about Kamala Harris' record as District Attorney: felony convictions have actually declined significantly during the past two years of Kamala Harris' tenure, and in fact, in 2009 San Francisco prosecutors won a lower percentage of their felony jury trials than their counterparts at district attorneys' offices covering the 10 largest cities in California.

The Facts About Harris' Latest Attack Ad

When someone puts up the money to run a TV ad with this many errors in it, you know they're on the defensive.

On Memorial Day weekend, Kamala Harris — San Francisco's failed District Attorney — began a series of ads so misleading we knew she had to be feeling pretty shaky about her standing in the Attorney General’s race.

For example, you may have heard about recent changes to Facebook's privacy policy. You may have also heard that a lot of people don't like them.

Well, if you read the Financial Times, you would have also heard that Chris Kelly doesn't like Facebook's privacy changes either.

In fact, as the FT reported, "Candidate Kelly today used strong language to distance himself from Facebook’s recent changes and said that if elected he would hold the company accountable if it violated state laws."

Note that Chris went on leave from Facebook in August 2009. These new changes didn't take effect until April 2010 — a full 8 months later.

In addition, in an email sent by Chris and MoveOn.org today, Chris joined with MoveOn to push Facebook to "recommit to letting users choose about third party sharing."

Naturally, despite these facts, Kamala Harris has decided to attack Chris anyway.

But why?

SF Weekly connected the dots in a recent piece, writing that Harris' effort to "deep-six" Chris' campaign "says a lot." Specifically, what it says is: Kamala Harris is "wary" and "perhaps a bit scared."

Why should Harris be so wary and scared?

Maybe because Chris Kelly has the qualifications and experience to make a better Attorney General for California than she does.

That would include experiences like working with all 50 Attorneys General while he was at Facebook to crack down on online sexual predators and protect people online from identity theft, and working for a federal judge in San Diego on civil and criminal cases involving money laundering and drug smuggling across the border.

And Chris helped President Bill Clinton put 100,000 new cops on America's streets as a White House domestic policy advisor in the 1990's — a policy that dramatically reduced crime.

Here's what Clinton's chief domestic policy adviser, Bruce Reed, said about that achievement: "Chris worked tirelessly on the 1992 campaign policy staff, the Presidential transition, and at the Clinton White House. He helped research implementation strategies for President Clinton's plan to put 100,000 community police on America's streets, which played a critical role in the longest, sharpest drop in crime rates on record."

So it isn’t exactly truthful when Harris attacks Chris Kelly about his experience, now is it?

Harvey Milk Day, 2010

Today would have been the 80th birthday of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay elected official in California and a true hero of our state.

That's why today we pause to remember Harvey Milk and what he did for all of us by celebrating the first annual Harvey Milk Day all across California.

In many respects, Harvey Milk got the fight started to provide equal rights under the law for gay and lesbian Californians -- paving the way for what has become perhaps the leading civil rights issue of our age.

As your Attorney General, I will continue what I can of that fight in the struggle for marriage equality, because I believe discrimination, in any form, at any time, is just plain wrong.

If you agree, please show your support by signing my petition in favor of overturning Prop 8 and restoring marriage equality today.

I hope you will also take some time today to remember the contributions of this great Californian and think about what you can do to continue his legacy of passion and equality.

New TV Ad

Over the past few months, I've traveled across the state, talking with Californians about my plans to protect consumers and keep our families safe.

In these tough economic times, Californians need an Attorney General who will fight for them and protect them against predatory lenders, credit card scams, and identity theft.

That's why I'm pleased to introduce our campaign's newest TV ad that talks about my plans to reduce crime and protect consumers.

It's going up on the air, today, throughout the state, but I want to make sure you have a chance to see it, even if you don't happen to catch it on TV.

The big oil spill in California

Two years ago, thanks to some loud bullying from Sarah Palin and the "drill, baby, drill" crowd, George Bush lifted a 26-year-old ban on offshore oil drilling.

Two years later, oil is spilling out of an offshore rig in the Gulf of Mexico at a terrifying rate, with no signs of stopping.

Now imagine if a spill like that happened near your favorite California beach.

Fortunately, our California senators, Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, have joined with senators from Oregon and Washington to introduce a permanent ban on west coast oil drilling.

I want to show them my support, and I'd like you to join me.

Click here to sign on and show your support for Senators Boxer and Feinstein's legislation banning oil drilling off California's coast!

It's bad enough to contemplate an environmental catastrophe of this scale happening at all, but it gets even worse when you look into the legal issues.

Because of some outdated liability caps, the big oil companies who let the Deepwater Horizon spill happen may only pay a small fraction of the cleanup costs.

And according to Senator Boxer, this week a BP executive told Congress he couldn't guarantee there wouldn't be a repeat of this disaster on other offshore rigs.

Show that you support Senators Boxer and Feinstein's California coastal drilling ban today.

Thanks for your support.

Cast your vote... today!

Did you know that early voting and vote-by-mail have already started in California? And do you know how easy voting early is?

Election Day isn't officially until June 8, but I want to ask you to cast your vote for me today!

I'm running for California attorney general to put my experience in law, public policy, and business to work to fight traditional crime and combat the new crimes of today.

We need to look for innovative ways to fight crime, protect consumers, and keep Californians safe -- and together, I know we can find them.

But I need your support -- and your vote -- to do it.

If you're registered for permanent vote-by-mail status, you may have already received your ballot. But even if you're not, voting early is as simple as looking up your county's early vote location and showing up at your convenience!

So look up the early vote location nearest you now -- and please, vote for me today!

It is an honor to campaign to represent Californians as their next attorney general, to share stories and concerns with voters, and to talk with consumer experts and law enforcement personnel about how we can better protect people.

But this campaign is fundamentally about putting our values into action, and there is no more important action you can take in a democracy than casting your vote.

Early voting is open from now until the primary election on June 8, although specific hours vary county by county.

We're highly recommending it to all supporters as a way to show your support early and make your voice heard at a time that works for you -- so you don't find yourself in a pinch on Election Day.

Please, consider voting early or returning your vote-by-mail ballot today!
