ATTORNEY GENERAL CANDIDATE CHRIS KELLY REPORTS AN ADDITIONAL $2 MILLION CONTRIBUTION TO CAMPAIGN

Kelly to Run a Substantial Campaign, Commits to Moving California in a New Direction

Palo Alto, CA- Today, Democratic Attorney General candidate Chris Kelly contributed an additional $2 million to his campaign, vowing to run a substantial and competitive race that reaches out to voters across California with his innovative ideas to fight crime, protect consumers, and keep Californians safe.

“I’m not an ‘establishment’ candidate, I’m not going to be beholden to special interests, and I’m not afraid to spend my own money to change the direction of California,” Kelly said.  “I think the voters of California are ready for new ideas, and I’m ready to communicate to them a message about why I’m the candidate with the right experience and priorities to be California’s next Attorney General.”

Chris Kelly has already released three substantive policy papers on how to prevent crime, support law enforcement and use technological advances to put criminals behind bars when he is the next Attorney General.  Details can be found on his web site at www.kelly2010.com.

An attorney and businessman, Kelly brings the right mix of experience in public policy, technology and law to fight traditional crime and combat new crimes of today – like identity theft and online sexual predators. After graduating from Harvard Law School, Kelly worked for a federal judge assisting on a wide range of criminal and civil cases, including drug smuggling and money laundering.  Kelly then came home to work for a Palo Alto law firm, representing innovators and entrepreneurs, including Netscape in the Microsoft anti-trust case.

In the 1990’s, he served as a domestic policy advisor to President Clinton, during which time Kelly helped to advance the landmark plan that put 100,000 new community police officers on America’s streets.  As chief legal counsel at Facebook, Kelly led efforts to protect the safety and security of the online community.   Kelly worked by side with Attorneys General from all 50 states developing safeguards to protect children from sexual predators.
